Who we are

Stichting Modulus (Modulus Foundation) is an artist-run interdisciplinary production house founded in 2014 and based in The Hague, the Netherlands.

Our Mission

Stichting Modulus creates innovative, participatory, immersive and embodied experiences that engage, challenge, and inspire. Our work explores what it means to (co)exist in 21st-century society and emphasizes art’s vital role in reshaping perspectives, fostering connections, and driving positive personal and societal change. Our goal is to create transformative experiences that resonate with our public long after, moving them viscerally, emotionally and mentally.

We produce distinctive, adventurous, high-quality interdisciplinary projects using a bold and hybrid approach, deliberately avoiding specialization in any single discipline. Instead, we operate at the intersections where music, dance, theater, performance, hybrid arts, participatory and interactive arts collide to produce new worlds, forms and experiences. Our projects often integrate art, science, philosophy and cutting-edge technologies with a critical and creative eye, using these tools to question their societal impact and shape emergent futures.

Through our work, we build bridges between disciplines, audiences, communities, and cultural spheres, creating spaces for reflection, connection, and collaboration. We are committed to investing in the future and offering alternative perspectives. Deeply embedded in the Dutch scene, our identity is decidedly “glocal”—rooted locally but globally connected—nurturing relationships with diverse organisations and publics.

2025-2026 theme:
Shifting Perspectives

Our activities for 2025-26 explore the theme Shifting Perspectives. The theme is concerned with the growing polarization in society, the dual role of technology as a connector and divider, and arts’ potential to bridge diverse perspectives. Through eight varied, socially urgent, interdisciplinary art projects, we aim to: shift audience perspectives towards more empathic understandings of the world; champion innovative interdisciplinary practices; contribute to diverse cultural expressions; invest in high-quality cross-disciplinary collaborations; build long-term partnerships with other organizations; grow, broaden, and diversify our audience; deepen our impact.

Stichting Modulus is structurally supported by Gemeente Den Haag.

Organization

Stichting Modulus integrates the Cultural Governance Code, applies the Fair Practice Code, and endorses the Diversity and Inclusion Code to create added value for the cultural scene and society at large, and to enhance and safeguard the integrity and ethical framework of our operations.

The core of the organization consists of an unpaid Supervisory Board and a ManagementTeam working on a freelance basis (zzp).

The Supervisory Board of Stichting Modulus consists of:

  • Nils van Beek (Chairperson)
  • Jeltsje In der Rieden (Treasurer)
  • Nienke Rooijakkers (Secretary)

The Management Team consists of

  • Stephanie Pan (Artistic Co-Director, Financial Director)
  • Stelios Manousakis (Artistic Co-Director, Technical Director)

Through our governance structure we ensure clear delineation of all central and peripheral functions and responsibilities, careful management, and good supervision. This involves a rigorous annual reporting process, which includes detailed disclosures on financial performance and risk management.

The organization grows on a per-project basis hiring freelancers to complete a project’s Organizational Team, Creative Team, and any Experts/Specialists required.

Fair Practice

Stichting Modulus follows Fair Practice Code for all artists and collaborators and strongly believes in its necessity for making our field more sustainable. As our practice involves many disciplines, and because there are no established guidelines for hybrid practices, we follow the Fair Practice and CAO guideline most relevant to the specific field.
